Committees and Academies  

Volunteers just like you are the heart of the our efforts to support our members in advancing patient care. Our volunteers carry out these efforts by joining the committees and academies, each with charges designed to support our advocacy and strategic planning agenda.

 

 

Standing Committees

Our standing committees are those specified and charged in the bylaws of the association. 

Executive Finance Committee

  • Chair: Sarah Westberg
  • Comprised of board members. Closely monitor association financials, strategic plan, and board engagement, making recommendations to the Executive Director

Nominating and Leadership Development Committee

  • Chairs: Jessica Lind and Rebecca Pickler
  • Identify future leaders, provide development opportunities to prepare them to serve in MPhA leadership positions, and recommend candidates for open board seats

Policy Committees

Policy Committees are established in the Bylaws with a specific role in policy development, with charges and membership determined annually by the President and the Speaker of the House.

Professional and Organizational Affairs

  • Chairs: Jordan Haag and Ashlee Slocum
  • Review House of Delegates policy changes, monitor state agencies for opportunities to elevate pharmacists’ involvement, recruit candidates for state appointments, strengthen interprofessional collaboration, and recommend topics for member education
  • Policy and Bylaws Review Subcommittee: Review policies and bylaws and propose revisions for vote at House of Delegates 

Public Affairs

  • Chairs: Joyce Hu and Jason Miller
  • Monitor regulatory activity, review legislation, and advise staff and lobbyists in alignment with MPhA policy. Make recommendations on emerging policy issues, shape advocacy strategies, and work closely with the Minnesota Pharmacy Alliance and Board of Pharmacy. Support educational programming, strengthen PAC and Advocacy Fund contributions, and foster strong relationships with legislators and key healthcare stakeholders to advance MPhA’s priorities

Special Committees

The MPhA President is given the authority to appoint Special Committees that aren't specified or charged specifically in the bylaws, with duties are as assigned by the President and Board.

Awards Committee

  • Chairs: Beth Vlieger and Kaylan Wilson
  • Review the candidates submitted for our awards program and determine the recipients annually

Events, Education, and Editorial Advisory Committee

  • Chairs: Abigail Sirek and Sean Stewart
  • Develop educational content and agendas for MPhA events, selects and coordinates presenters, and advises on sponsorships and exhibitors. Review event strategy, recommends future directions, integrate legislative initiatives into major meetings, and support event promotion
  • Editorial Advisory Subcommittee: Manage MPhA’s social media presence, plan and post regular content, monitor and recommend improvements to enhance impact, and contribute to the monthly newsletter
  • Student Presentation Subcommittee: Solicit abstracts about IMUS-PPE projects from P3 pharmacy students to present at the MPhA Annual Conference in October

Member Engagement Committee

  • New committee, chairs to come
  • Create opportunities for members to improve engagement within MPhA, including students and new practitioners, and develops meaningful metric to assess member engagement and satisfaction

Academies

MTM Academy 

  • Chairs: Jordan Banister and Jackie Nelson
  • The Medication Therapy Management Academy is a community of pharmacists passionate about advancing MTM and supporting one another in this unique area of pharmacy practice. The group brings pharmacists together to build relationships, share experiences, and foster collaboration. Members connect regularly to exchange ideas, strengthen their skills, and grow as MTM practitioners. Together, they work to elevate patient-centered care and expand the impact of MTM across Minnesota

Industry Academy
